Jiao is a former Chinese sex slave turned realtor who was introduced in Season 1. She drew in a sketchbook and hid it under the carpet in Room 4 of the Bates Motel, hoping that somebody would find it and liberate her. Although it was initially thought that she was murdered by Zack Shelby, she was seen alive and well working as a realtor in the series finale.
Jiao was tricked into joining the business and sold as a slave to Deputy Zack Shelby, most likely by Jake Abernathy. At some point, she wrote in a sketchbook and hid it in the Bates Motel (which was then called the Seafarer Motel) in hopes that someone would find it and free her.
She was locked in Zack's basement for an undetermined amount of time and probably forced to commit sexual acts. She was accidentally found by Norman Bates, who was looking for a belt that could incriminate his mom, Norma Bates. (What's Wrong With Norman)
She was scared and desperate to go with him, but he was in a rush and promised to return and get her later. (Trust Me)
After telling Norma about Zack Jiao fell asleep. When Jiao wakes up she takes a shower as Shelby arrive to pursue his relationship with Norma. When Shelby hears noises from another room he spot Jiao and she flees into the woods and Zack chases after her. (The Truth)
After Zack is killed, Norman tells Sheriff Romero that Zack told them he shot Jiao in the woods. (The Man in Number 9)
